The Healthy Mineral Vitamin Supplements
Mineral supplements are a contradiction today because they are not natural but chemical and so go against the natural concept of health. And yet, more and more people seem to be bent on taking vitamin and mineral supplements on a regular basis. The main reason for this is the amount of debate that relates to whether or not the chemical mineral vitamins are harmful instead of beneficial within the long term.
The fact of the matter is that these chemical supplements are not as easy for our body to digest as natural ones. The industry is constantly striving to create products that are more easily processed by the body and therefore more beneficial. Industry constantly innovates and produces new ‘more bio-available’ forms of minerals and vitamins. Many mineral vitamins have been developed, combining elements that permit them to be readily absorbed by the body. Iron is commonly combined to form iron gluconate which enables the supplement to be more easily absorbed by the body.
For the body to absorb the amount it needs, the amount in the mineral vitamin supplement has to be a lot more than what it would be in its natural form. However, this could also result in larger quantities of the mineral being absorbed than is needed resulting in toxic levels. It is therefore extremely important that a person does not simply take vast quantities of all of the supplements that are advertised on television and should seek advice from a health professional. You also need to be aware of all of the developments that are taking place within the industry producing mineral vitamin supplements because they are constantly some better and new combinations that are being developed.
A common method used by manufacturers for ready absorption is using yeast cells to culture the raw materials. This form of supplements are known as ‘food state’ and are up to four times easier for the body to absorb the required nutrients as the yeast is completely digested.
Of course, the need for mineral vitamin supplements depends on the diet that each person has. It goes without saying that nutrients obtained in their natural form through the food eaten is much better for the body than by artificial means. Long term use of supplements is not recommended.
